Saxons excel at state meet.

Several Hastings High School students participated in the Michigan Industrial and Technology Education Society's state competition late last week and represented the Saxon community well.

The event was held at the Leslie Tassell MTEC in Grand Rapids. Here is how our Saxons performed.

Matthew Domenico - First place, Single Part Development
In this live competition, students were given a print of the part they needed to draw using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software. The part must be completed within a specific amount of time. The part was graded on the level of completeness/accuracy in relation to the print provided.

Lilyah Solmes - First place, Multiple Part Development and Assembly
In this live competition, students were given prints of the parts they needed to draw using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software. The parts were then mated together to form an assembly. Students must complete the assigned task within a specific amount of time. All projects were graded on the level of completeness/accuracy in relation to the print provided.

Ryder Reil - Second place, Oxy-Acetylene Welding
Students were given a safety test and a written test on information related to the area of welding in this live competition. Students were also given prints/materials and provided with a welding booth/machine to build their welding project. Students were asked to complete the assigned task within a specific amount of time. All projects were graded on their level of completeness/accuracy in relation to the print provided.

Garrett Dunn - Second place, TIG Welding (Tungsten Inert Gas)
Students were given a safety test and a written test on information related to the area of welding in this live competition. Students were also given prints/materials and provided with a welding booth/machine to build their welding project. Students were asked to complete the assigned task within a specific amount of time. All projects were graded on their level of completeness/accuracy in relation to the print provided.
