This month, Hastings Area School System was honored for its dedication to, and effectiveness in, implementing its Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework during the 2024–25 school year.
The MiMTSS Technical Assistance Center recently released a list of award winners, and Hastings Area Schools was one of only 10 school districts in the state of Michigan to receive Gold Awardee status.
“We’re thrilled to announce that 19 ISDs and 184 districts have been recognized with MiMTSS Award Letters for their outstanding efforts in implementing the MiMTSS framework during the 2024–2025 school year,” the announcement read. “A special congratulations to our Gold Awardees, and a heartfelt thank you to every educator, administrator, student, and family who has worked with passion and purpose to bring the MTSS framework to life.”
The Michigan Department of Education and MiMTSS TA Center have developed a process for identifying and recognizing ISDs, districts, and schools that are demonstrating strong outcomes and/or making progress related to meeting the needs of each and every learner through a multi-tiered framework.
This recognition process is based on information housed in the MiMTSS Data System, and all criteria for a specific school year are posted on the MiMTSS TA Center website.
The MTSS framework provides schools and districts with an efficient way to organize resources to support educators in the implementation of effective practices with fidelity so that all learners succeed.
The MTSS process in Hastings is overseen by the District Implementation Team (DIT) and Building Leadership Teams (BLTs) at all six of our buildings. The teams are made up of administrators, teachers, staff, and parents. These teams utilize data review processes to implement positive behavior supports, literacy programs, and other supports for the success of our students.
