A great day for Field Day!

Kona Ice on Activity Day...and the sun just popped out!

Our awesome fifth graders just took home their own copies of the annual “My Future Me” book, hot off the press from J-Ad Graphics.
This special keepsake is packed with letters from students in schools across the county, written to their future selves. Inside holds big dreams, bold advice, and some heartwarming and hilarious predictions.

Fifth graders had a special visit today from Judge Michael Schipper!
Judge Schipper spoke with them about his role in the judicial system and gave them an introduction to how our legal system works. Thank you, Judge Schipper, for taking time out of your busy schedule to educate our students!

Our district is excited to launch a mobile app designed to keep students, parents, and community members informed and connected right from their phones. Since most families rely on mobile devices as their primary source of communication, we partnered with a developer to create a custom app just for Hastings.
With the Hastings Area School System app, you can read the latest announcements, access staff contact information, view upcoming events and find important documents and resources.
The app is free to download and available on both the Apple App Store and Google Play.
It’s everything HASS...in your pocket.

The fifth graders got a sneak peek at middle school life today. They spent the morning touring the building, checking out classrooms, and getting the inside scoop on what to expect next year.
Big thanks to the middle school staff for welcoming our soon-to-be sixth graders and helping them feel right at home.

Today, our third graders traded the classroom for the barnyard at Ag Awareness Day at the Barry County Fairgrounds! 🐄🌽
Hosted by several local organizations, this hands-on event gave students a closer look at the many parts of the agriculture industry, which is a vital part of life in Barry County. It was a day filled with learning, discovery, and lots of fun!

Today, Tech Ninjas from all four elementary buildings visited the CTE department at the high school. Students visited Engineering Design, Culinary Arts, Agriculture, Construction Trades, Welding, Business, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, and Marketing classes. High School students shared their expertise and students enjoyed learning about their future opportunities, trying a few new things, and making candy sushi! Big thanks to our students and staff in HHS CTE for hosting the ninjas for their culminating experiece after a year of hard work!

Congratulations to our April Young Citizenship Award recipients! Presented by the Hastings Kiwanis Club, this special honor recognizes students who consistently lead by example through kindness, integrity, and outstanding character in their daily lives.
Let’s celebrate these inspiring young leaders!

🎨 Northeastern Elementary was alive with creativity on Saturday for the Starry Night Art Auction! The library and gym transformed into a vibrant gallery showcasing months of dedication, imagination, and talent from our amazing students. Every piece told a story. 🖌️

Some of our students helped out the high school's television production class with making the daily announcements!

In celebration of Teacher Appreciation Week, our PTO has been treating staff to thoughtful surprises all week long. Today is a fully-stocked popcorn bar, complete with a variety of delicious mix-ins.
While teachers may have been camera-shy, rest assured, they thoroughly enjoyed every bite. A big thanks to the PTO for helping make teachers feel so valued and celebrated!

Our 5th graders had a blast at STARBASE-Battle Creek yesterday!

A great lunch bunch!

It was a fantastic Spring Concert on Wednesday! Thank you all for the wonderful kids!

We're SO excited to put the hard work and creativity of our students on display at our "Starry Night" art event next weekend. Here's everything you need to know about the event. We can't wait to see you!

Move over, Milan, Paris, and New York, the real fashion capital might just be Northeastern Elementary.
Yesterday, Mrs. Langeland, Mrs. Slagel, and Mrs. Nickels, which are three of our district’s more fashion-forward educators, showed up rocking identical outfits: denim jackets, black tops, and khaki pants. The best part? It wasn’t even planned.
Coincidence? Maybe. Style icon status? Absolutely.
Better jump on the trend before it hits the runway!

We were excited to have author David Strickland at our school yesterday to talk to our 5th graders about the writing process!

The Northeastern Elementary ice cream social with Minute to Win It games was a huge success over the weekend. Thanks to everyone who came out and volunteered to make it happen!

Bring your family and friends tonight for a sweet treat!
